Diane Sommers: Diane Sommers is the 57th President of the American Rose Society. She has been growing roses for over forty years. Her new garden in Wisconsin has over 170 roses of all varieties. In addition to serving as ARS President, Diane has served as ARS Treasurer, NCD District Director and Region 5 Regional Director in addition to chairing many ARS Committees. Most recently, as chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, Diane spearheaded the implementation of technology solutions that increase access to quality programs and speakers for consulting rosarian’s (CR’s), local rose societies and members. Diane is a past president of two local rose societies and has been awarded the ARS Silver Honor Award and two Bronze Honor Awards for her contributions to the North Central District, the Milwaukee Rose Society and the Waukesha Rose Society. She has also been recognized with the Outstanding Consulting Rosarian Award and the Outstanding Judge Award for service in her District. Diane is an ARS Master Rosarian, and Accredited Horticulture and Arrangement Judge.
Dave Ingram: Dave Ingram lives and gardens in Denver, Colorado. When he bought his first house, he inherited a scraggly, neglected ‘Mister Lincoln’ hybrid tea, which won his heart with its resilience and fragrance. He now has over a hundred roses in his yard, tends another hundred at his partner Susie’s house, and volunteers to tend hundreds more at the Hudson Gardens Public Rose Garden. As an endless student of all things roses, he is well aware of the challenges that both soil and water pose to gardeners of all skill levels.
Dave is currently President of the Denver Rose Society, a Master Rosarian and Bronze Medal winner. He writes articles on all aspects of rose care, and teaches rose classes to, well, anyone who will listen!
Craig Dorschel: Craig Dorschel, from Worcester, Massachusetts, is the Vice President of the American Rose Society. He is a retired chemist and has been a member of the American Rose Society for 25 years. He has served on the ARS Board of Directors as a Regional Director and District Director. He is also member of the New England, Connecticut, and Rhode Island Rose Societies.
Awards received by Mr. Dorschel are the Bronze Honor Medal in 2008, Silver Honor Medal in 2009, the Outstanding Consulting Rosarian in 2011 and the Outstanding Horticulture Judge in 2019.
He is a continuous Patron level supporter of the ARS Annual Fund. Craig has written articles for local and District newsletters as well as one published in the American Rose Annual. He has given numerous lectures at local and District events and presented the most recent Chemical Safety Webinar of the National Consulting Rosarian School program in 2021 online.
