Companion Plants

Blooming buddies.

There's no such thing as a lonely rose. These beauties form perfect partnerships with a wide variety of plants-from annual, biennial and perennial flowers to shrubs and vines.
Use roses to brighten taller evergreens, utilizing the cool greens and grays to provide an attractive background. In a narrow bed, use floribundas. In a wider bed, plant taller hybrid teas and grandifloras in back and low-growing roses in front.

In the flower garden, roses combine well with other flowers and can be planted separately or in groups. Some perennials that thrive with roses include hollyhock, sunflower, lily and violet. Best buddy annuals include larkspur, poppy, sweet alyssum, forget-me-not and petunia.
