The eight feet tall, black chain link fence helps us keep a hungry population of deer at bay from the research Trial Gardens. This research trial is a joint effort of the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center and the American Rose Society. This garden contains 120 hybrid tea roses being tested to determine which the average gardener, with a minimum of attention and care, can grow.
At the conclusion of this research project, we expect the successful roses that pass the trial to be available for purchase by consumers from nurseries around the country. This project represents one of the many ways the American Rose Society is helping the home gardener grow roses successfully in their own backyard.
