Gulf District David Austin Garden
The elliptical Gulf District David Austin Garden is sponsored by the rose societies of Louisiana and Mississippi. These beautiful and fragrant Shrub Roses, which were developed by rosarian David Austin in England, are being tested for the warm climate of the southern states.
Within the garden — a very popular spot with brides — you will find a syrup or sugar kettle common to the farms and plantations of Louisiana. Behind the roses, you will notice three antique, weathered, white columns from an old Louisiana homestead. Look for the delicate pink and large, very double blooms of the ‘Eglantyne’ Rose.
