Thigpen-Herold Administration Building
The Thigpen-Herold Administration Building (named for the families who generously donated 118-acres for the American Rose Center in 1974). Here you will find a garden map to guide you on the walking tour, as well as many other stops along the way that are not included in this tour, but that you may explore on your own. Please note that we do not allow cuttings of any plants within the garden, and ask that you leave all of the blooms for future visitors to enjoy.
The garden map will help you find all of our various garden destinations, as well as our Rules of Garden Etiquette. Please note that audio tour stops are numbered to correspond with the printed garden map in a manner to best represent the overall garden experience, and do not occur in sequential numerical order.
The Thigpen-Herold Administration Building is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. We welcome you to come inside and say hello to the American Rose Society staff, and to find drinking water and restrooms.
Our gift ship is currently closed, but it will be open for special events, including Celebration of Spring Bloom in April, and Christmas in Roseland.
On weekends and holidays, please find our garden maps and donation box on the front porch. We operate the gardens on a donation basis, except for special pay events. We appreciate your financial support. In addition, you may follow the following link to make a secure donation through Paypal.
